Technology Article

Technology is a great way of communication. It's becoming more popular everyday. Unfortunately, technology is becoming the only way people communicate anymore. Instead of talking face to face or even on the phone, people email, text, etc. Honestly, I don't even like to talk on the phone anymore because I know I can just text someone instead of taking time to actually have a personal conversation with them. Is it really possible that people depend too much on technology? I think that technology was meant to enhance communication, but in reality it's just another way for people to avoid that awkward conversation face to face or on the phone. It's making communication less personal and less meaningful.

What will the future be like as technology continues to expand become more involved in everyone's lives?

  1. I agree with this completely. I hate talking on the phone and would rather text people then actually have to have a face to face conversation with them. I realize how dependent I am on technology when I freak out when my cell phone is dying or broken. I agree with the fact that you mean it was made to enhance communication but its making it less personal. If it keeps up this way where are we going to be in ten years?

  2. I agree with this post. People are beginning to not develop some of the personal skills that are still of some importance in this world and it is all due to this ever growing technology.

  3. I completely agree with technology taking over our lives. It enhances our communication but also it takes it away from us in a way too. We have to take public speaking classes and other speech courses to be able to speak in front of a large number of people. I think that technology has decreased the number of confrontation with other people face to face, and now its relied on everyday so we can live our lives.

  5. i dont think that much will change as it is now when technology does expand more and more because no matter how much you use your phone and internet you are going to run into people face to face all the time and still will have conversations with one another so i do not think much will change as it is now when technology advances.

  6. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU... WHY? I AGREE WITH YOU BECAUSE I PERSONALLY SOMETIMES WOULD RATHER TEXT CALL OR FACEBOOK CHAT SOMEONE THEN TALK IN PERSON BECAUSE ITS EASIER AND SIMPLE. BUT AT THE SAME TIME FACE TO FACE INTERACTION IS BETTER TECHNOLOGY CAN CAUSE ALOT OF MISCONCEPTIONS AS TO HOW SOMEONE MIGHT INTERPRET WHAT SOME ONE WROTE... RIGHT NOW IM RIGHTING IN ALL CAPS. TELL ME HOW DO YOU THINK I AM TALKING OR HOW I WOULD BE TALKING IF THIS WAS A FACE TO FACE CONVERSATION... YOU COULD RIGHT NOW AT THIS MOMENT THINK IM YELLING OR THAT IM BEING PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT IM TYPING... MY POINT IS THAT PEOPLE CANT REALLY TELL HOW SOMEONES EXPRESSING THEMSELF FULLY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY.. PERSON TO PERSON FACE TO FACE IS BETTER BECAUSE WE HAVE BODY LANGUAGE, EYE CONTACT, AND EMOTIONS..
    THAT IS ALL <3

  7. I agree about the part where people would rather text than talk. I feel that people are shying more and more away from talking on the phone or face to face with people. It is a lot easier to just send a quick text to someone, but i think that this can be a little unhealthy in the long run. Young kids today seem to be getting cell phones around age 10-13 now and if all they want to do is text, it can hurt their social skills. We are teaching our youth to depend on technology, which can lead to them not going out into the world and exploring or being less socially active

  8. I agree with Alex. Technology is hitting a younger and younger culture. I see third graders with cell phones. My campers at camp this summer were 8 and crying about not having their phones. Kids would rather sit inside and play video games then go out and explore the real world. When we were kids we didn't have access to this kind of technology. What does this mean for the younger generation?

  9. I totally agree. However, I don't really like to text. I think that people are too distracted by texting. Furthermore, I think that texting takes away from being able to have real connections with people. I have found that texting and phones in general are an annoyance. It is impossible to have a formal get together with a friend without being distracted from the conversation by a phone. I think that people depend too much on technology. I think the iphone is completely stupid. I would rather have my computer stay at home. Every once and a while I don't want to think about people and what they have to say on Facebook. I can't believe that Facebook is so popular. It is a tremendous waste of time and back to your last point about communication is becoming less personal and meaningful- I find that Facebook is just a pool for people to jump in and talk about the
"he said, she said bullshit." People have nothing interesting to talk about. Maybe Fahrenheit 451 is becoming a reality. When do you think we are going to result to book burning as a means for control. Half of the people don't read anymore or have their own opinions. It is scary.

  10. I agree with alex braman but I would like to point out that usually texting is usually a prerequisite, or something that has to happen before the physical "hanging out". Texting has made it easier to quickly meet and interact with people.
